The Collection of Books in the Museum of Mediterranean and Near Eastern Antiquities
Vitterhetsakademiens bibliotek, The Library of the Royal Academy of Letters History and Antiquities, the National Heritage Board, has signed a contract with the Museum of Mediterranean and Near Eastern Antiquities, the National Museums of World Culture. The agreement regulates the management of the collection of books and other publications which is housed at the Museum.
The agreement means that the Library's collections of books and other publications in the areas of Classical Antiquity, Islamic Art and Egyptology, which for a long time have been kept at the Museum, will stay there. The agreement states that the books on deposit will be available to users to the same extent as before. All loans will, however, be handled by the Museum Library, not by Vitterhetsakademiens bibliotek.
The deposited books can be searched in the library catalogues, VITALIS and Catalogue -1974. But it will no longer be possible to order the books through VITALIS. Borrowers have to turn directly to the library at the Museum.
