Catalogue information

VITALIS

The main library catalogue is called VITALIS (VITterhetsAkademiens bibliotek's Local Information System), and the library system is ALEPH. You can access the catalogue via Internet.

It contains all literature acquired by the library since 1975, and a large part of the old collections. Books, journals, articles, reports, dissertations and essays are searchable in the online catalogue.

Old literature is registered continuously in VITALIS and we recommend our patrons to begin their literature search in VITALIS. If you can not locate a title in the online catalogue and the literature is not from recent years, you have to continue your search in the catalogue Katalog -1974.

All menus in VITALIS are in Swedish.

Catalogue -1974 (Katalog -1974)

Catalogue -1974 is the library's old sheet catalogue and it is now digitalized and accessible via the Internet.

Parts of the collections registered in Catalogue -1974 are also registered in the library's online catalogue VITALIS. Therefore, you should always start your search in VITALIS before turning to Catalogue -1974.

The original Catalogue -1974 has been created over many years. It consists of both handwritten and typed sheets. The cataloguing rules are from 1916. Many of the sheets are badly worn and therefore hard to read even in digital form. Please contact the library if you have difficulty in finding what you are looking for in the catalogue, or in interpreting the information on the sheet.

Normally a book will be found under its author. Collected works of different types - journals, annuals etc - are found under title, under the first noun in the nominative form, i.e. the first noun in undeclined form. See more search information beneath menu choice 'Search Aid' in Catalogue -1974.

The Rosenhane Prints, Maps and Drawings (Rosenhaneplanscher)

The catalogue of Rosenhane Prints, Maps and Drawings was produced for an exhibition at the Museum of National Antiquities in 1958. It records about 1 300 prints, maps and drawings from the library of Schering Rosenhane, the Younger. The entire collection of prints, maps and drawings holds about 3 000 graphical and handcoloured items. Other than Swedish topography, the motifs also include Swedish battles, costumes, festivities and ceremonies.

Special Catalogues

There are a number of special catalogues. The two most important are the handwritten catalogue to the Rosenhane Collection and the printed catalogue to Bibliotheca Monteliana, i.e. the Oscar Montelius donation to the library. Information about special collections can be found under menu choice "About the library" / "Special collections".
