Regional development and growth
Culture and cultural heritage are emphasized as being increasingly important for regional development. Cultural heritage can be a resource that strengthens regions and improves the conditions for growth. The Swedish National Heritage Board's work takes place in cooperation with other agencies and organisations, aiming to highlight and develop the role of cultural heritage in other policy areas.
The Swedish National Heritage Board is tasked with contributing to the implementation of Sweden's strategy for regional competitiveness, entrepreneurship and employment. It supports that work with a starting point in cultural heritage. One part of this is to deepen the discussion and problemise concepts like "culture", "identity", "sustainable social identity" and "attractiveness".
Efforts towards regional development and increased growth must be based on solid foundations and promote sustainable development in three dimensions: economic, social and environmental.
Supervisory committees
The Swedish National Heritage Board takes an active role in the work on EU funding and programs. We have members on the supervisory committees for the Rural Development Programme and the regional structure fund programme. The supervisory committees review and monitor the counties work involving landscape development and regional development.

In related work involving rural development, the Swedish National Heritage Board cooperates with the Swedish Board of Agriculture, among others.
